It’s official. AUGI ATP course 250-FIELD of Study, Segment 1 is available for download. The exercises covered through the ATP course will include all of the information from my posts covering Fields on this website, but those subjects will be expanded on and there will be additional lessons and information available also. Join me this month on AUGI for this series as well as here on Indydrafter.com for exercises on the AutoCAD Sheet Set Manager.

Check out AUGI for the current offering of ATP Courses. I’m instructing the June class called ‘FIELD of Study’. This course is going to pull a lot from the May posts on Indydrafter.com for content, but I’m going to refine and repackage the material to better fit handouts. I’m also going to add a few points of interest in the course sections to elaborate on some of the features of Fields. Fields/May Wrap-up

Lets wrap up this month by reviewing the subject matter and exploring some guidelines for consideration.  In this set of exercises we’ve discussed the basic definition and properties of AutoCAD Fields, how they can be inserted into a drawing using text objects and attributes, implementing Fields into title blocks and with the Sheet Set Manager, using them with drawing objects such as viewports, inside of tables for object data and formulas, and also within dynamic blocks to annotate and/or verify its properties.

AutoCAD Fields With Blocks

I’m going to have to give a lot of credit to Josh Jones of Lazydrafter.com for this exercise.  He prompted a question about inserting fields with coordinate values tied to the blocks they referenced.  I tried this out on my own and managed to make it work.  However, I went to Josh’s website to check out how he did it, and it was a much better way.  I reworked my block very similar to how he did, and have documented the work in the following paragraphs.  My suggestion is, if …
