It would be ideal that every drafter and designer at every company could maintain a new or updated license of their design software every release.  We could all enjoy the new features and abilities that the software programmers and application engineers were slaving over the past year and relish in the ROI that we were promised.  I’m not criticizing the claims to ROI that the software companies make, but again, those claims are in an ideal world.

We don’t live in an ideal world, though.  Some people may have no issues with getting a new release every year and it may even be expected.  It is especially easy to do this on Subscription.  The fact is that most companies and especially freelancers don’t have the time, effort, or funds to update their software package every year.

I’m curious to see what your particular situation is.  Maybe I’m wrong and the majority does renew their software with each new release.  I’d be hard-pressed to believe it, but maybe the poll will reveal something I’m unaware of.
