September AUGIndy Meeting Recap
The AUGIndy local AutoCAD user group had it’s monthly meeting on Tuesday (as it does on the 3rd Tuesday of every month) covering different uses and methods for AutoCAD Tool Palettes. The topic is part of an ongoing theme for AUGIndy regarding understanding and utilizing the features in AutoCAD to make it work with you and for you. Previous meetings have involved External References, Layers and Layer Filters, Dynamic Blocks, Fields, and the Sheet Set Manager.
At the meeting this week, group members discussed what kind of objects and utilities can be put onto Tool Palettes (blocks, lines, templates, commands, dimensions, hyperlinks, hatches, etc.), the different ways that content can be uploaded (drag and drop, design center, explorer, etc.), how to edit the content within palettes to do what you want how you want, and the options available to format the palette, it’s tabs, groups, and settings.
There was a lot to absorb and learn by all in attendance. The great part about the AUGIndy group is that the meetings always start with the more seasoned AutoCAD veterans leading and ends up with the younger and/or entry level AutoCAD users grasping the information, asking great questions, and even challenging the knowledge base of the entire group. It makes for an impressive environment of peers pushing each other, regardless of their experience level.
I am excited to be a part of this local user group and look forward to our meetings every month. If you are in the Indianapolis area, please consider joining us next month. All you need to do is go to the Advanced Solutions Office on the 3rd Tuesday from 5:30-7:30. Their offices are moving to the Bastian Materials building near 96th and Keystone and I’ll post the information flyer a few days before hand. We’ll have an open chair waiting for you.
