64-Bit Databases Got You Down?

Microsoft didn’t include the Jet engine with 64-bit operating systems and thus disabled for use within 64-bit versions of Autodesk software (i.e. Map 3D 2010 and Civil 3D 2011). As you can probably guess, this causes a lot of problems and should raise alarm. For one, there are literally thousands of .mdb files out there based upon the Microsoft Access 32-bit architecture which can no longer be utilized for geospatial data. What’s a person to do in this scenario?

Announcing the Indydrafter AU 2010 Portal

So I’ve reviewed the many resources available to prepare for Autodesk University this year. Well, I have one more that I neglected to mention (because it wasn’t quite ready yet) and that is the Indydrafter AU 2010 protal for all the inside information throughout the entire conference. I’ll be attending events varying from the opening keynotes, bloggers’ social, the AEC social, the ATC Summit, AUGI Annual Meeting, AUGI Beer Bust, and so much more.

10 Days Until AU 2010

If you haven’t already, it is time to start the countdown. 10 days until Autodesk University 2010; the biggest annual event for all the design dorks, CAD geeks, and technology nerds. Ergonomics in the Workplace

Back pains is one of the most common work-related injuries and occurs out of ordinary, repetitive tasks whether done a the desk or lifting heavy objects. With activities ranging from reading and checking plans to typing and mousing around within our CAD software, us design professionals are just a likely to fall victim to these miseries (among others). What causes these pains and what can we do to either prevent or correct the issues?
