Back From Vacation

18 August 2009 No Comment

I didn’t make an announcement that I was ever on vacation (mostly because it was only a 4 day weekend), but I’m back now and I had an incredible time. I’m not one for posting too much about off-topic subjects, but this was a much needed break from work and the website and it was a blast.

The trip was to the Michigan Upper Peninsula with a total of 7 of us and 3 dogs and we stayed at a cabin between Manistique and Munising. The drive wasn’t bad at all, and aside from a few stops on the way back due to construction, went without a hitch. On the way there, we enjoyed a great breakfast in Mackinaw City before crossing the Mackinac Bridge, which was really impressive. We took a fun ferry ride to Mackinac Island from St. Ignace and dogs seemed to like it also. The Island was great and we all of us had a good time. Of course, Duchess (Cari’s and my Weimaraner), Heath (our friend Meredith’s Cocker Spaniel), and Captain (our friend Zak’s Terrier mix) got a lot of attention and a good workout.

2 hours after we were back from Mackinac Island we were finally at our cabin and we pretty much crashed. Everyone had been up for 30+ hours at that point and it was just time to call it a day. I think the dogs agreed.

The next couple of days consisted of canoeing, fishing, swimming, site seeing, relaxing, grilling, and a couple of hours in a casino. It is something that I’d love to do again. I’m not trying to market for Michigan or the UP, but if you are looking for a good place to have a good and relaxing time, it worked well for us. I’ll update this post with some pictures as soon as I have them all downloaded from my camera.

Now get back to work and do some drafting!
