AUGIndy February Meeting
Well, I didn’t get the announcement out in time to let everyone know about the meeting. Sorry about that everyone. I’ll make sure that doesn’t happen again, but if you get curious you can always check the Events page or the AUGIndy Meeting Info page for the regular meeting schedule and information.
At the meeting, we talked a while about the differences between different releases of AutoCAD from 2007 to 2010 and how the feature sets stack up against each other. We also touched briefly on the comparison between AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT as well. This type of information is very helpful when it comes time to decided what software package you are planning to purchase and how often you decide to upgrade from one release to another. We used some materials offered by Autodesk which easily explaining these differences in a matrix chart. Links to those materials are as follows: Release Comparison Matrix & AutoCAD LT Comparison Matrix.
After breaking down the differences in the different versions and releases of AutoCAD, we relaxed for bit to watch about half of an AU screencast covering BIM workflows within a multi-disciplinary firm. Everyone found this extremely informational and walked away with much better knowledge on how to better utilize their models between departments. There were also several techniques on using Revit, Civil 3D, and Navisworks features that some had never known, but can now apply it to their every day efforts. Take an moment and browse the AU Online website, register for a free account, and benefit from all the great resources it has to offer.
That’s it for now. We’ll look forward to seeing you next month.
