Beginnings
Indydrafter.com was created in April of 2009, but the project to craft it began over a year prior. This website, as a goal, was to accomplish several things: instruct on AutoCAD features and techniques in an easy to understand and comprehensive way; increase the visibility and promote the talent of Autodesk software users in Indianapolis, Central Indiana, and the entire state; help organize and improve the awareness of the several impressive local user groups we have; establish a primary resource for finding when Autodesk training, conventions, meetings, and other events occur; provide a new avenue for networking with local peers, building professional relationships, and introducing a sense of community-even amongst competitors; and to also hone my own abilities within AutoCAD and other Autodesk vertical software products while gaining new skills in web design and administration.
That’s an expansive list of goals. None of which is an easy task to take on. Until now and into the future, Indydrafter.com will evolve and enhance these goals, as well as improve the ways in which it interacts with everyone. One way Indydrafter.com has already accomplished this is by creating a Job Board. Yes, the job board initially loads with jobs focused on Central Indiana, but a few clicks of the keyboard allow anyone to access a huge database of available jobs anywhere in the North America. Another way Indydrafter.com advocates ‘global’ interaction is by using the comments section of posts and the discussion forum page. Anyone anywhere can communicate with each other on Indydrafter.com to network, ask questions, and aid each other.
