AutoCAD Fields With Blocks

I’m going to have to give a lot of credit to Josh Jones of Lazydrafter.com for this exercise.  He prompted a question about inserting fields with coordinate values tied to the blocks they referenced.  I tried this out on my own and managed to make it work.  However, I went to Josh’s website to check out how he did it, and it was a much better way.  I reworked my block very similar to how he did, and have documented the work in the following paragraphs.  My suggestion is, if …

AutoCAD Fields With Tables

Nearly every sector of architecture and engineering requires quantity take-offs. This dreaded task has been improved through the use of new utilities built into AutoCAD, but it doesn’t cover all of the bases. This lesson is going to teach the basics of utilizing AutoCAD Fields within Tables to gather information and quantities of your drawing objects. The examples shown, as in past lessons, are a little generalized so that you can expand on them using the numerous other options in the Field dialog box, or create something more specific to your sector …

AutoCAD Fields With Objects

Sorry for the delay on getting this post out. Between an extremely hectic week followed by some much needed vacation time, I didn’t have the opportunity to post this lesson. Because of this, there will be two posts covering AutoCAD Fields this week.
With this lesson on AutoCAD Fields, we’re going to focus on the power of Fields used in conjunction with blocks and viewports to display their properties.  I’ll cover some of the basics and allow you to expand on those concepts yourself.  The potential for Fields with your drawing …

I must apologize for the forum not operating properly. In its current condition, you can create a new thread and post when you are finished. However, the thread never gets created and all the effort you’ve put into the post is lost in the interwebs. I will make it a priority to fix this, as I’m also being prevented from posting anything to the forum as well.
I’ll post again when the forum is functioning as intended. Thank you for your patience.

Fields in Sheet Set Manager (continued)

The remaining AutoCAD Fields that need to be defined are “Scale”, “Drawn By”, “Designed By”, and “Check By”.  Now, these attributes don’t necessarily need to be defined within the sheet-level information on projects where the scale, drafter, designer, and checker remain constant throughout the set.  However, you may need to have sheet-level information such as a work order # that is different at points in the set or maybe there is a different drafter or designer, too.  When this is the case, it is necessary to create Fields under the …
